Wood Plants

Plants have to be designed to be able to burn wood, and so it isn't possible to convert an existing coal or natural gas-fired plant to wood without retrofitting the plant. Wood power plants provide a market for low value tops, limbs, and thinned wood from forest management, which cannot be sold or used elsewhere. This provides added revenue for foresters and landowners and increases the economic viability of management systems that keep our forests healthy.
