Renewable Energy Projects
Most utility-scale renewable energy projects in Michigan have not been developed with formal Community Benefits Agreements, however there numerous examples of projects that have provided direct benefits to the communities which host them. In addition to paying property taxes (most of which stay in the local community), many developers have also made contributions to community organizations. It is also increasingly common for developers to offer some form of direct payment to neighboring landowners.
